COPPULL PARISH CHURCH VOLUNTARY AIDED SCHOOL
The National School was built in 1817 across the road from the
church, the Rev. Joseph Taylor being the incumbent. Before he came to Coppull he
was Head Teacher at Eccleston school and it is highly probable that it was
through his efforts that the school was built.
In the 1960's the number of children wishing entry was such that
the church built a new school at Roe Hey Drive. The foundation stone being
laid down on 22nd October 1966. The old school continued to be used, so the
school operated on a split site basis.
A few years ago the Governors started fund raising to extend the
school. This was successful and we now have a fine school with all the children
together on one site.
